Safety Information

Chimps less than 48” will be required to wear the full body harness provided. All participants will be required to wear all safety equipment provided by Monkey Trunks. We are not able to allow you to wear your own harnesses.

For maximum safety all courses except the Discovery course are on a continuous safety system. The Discovery course has a continuous safety system which unaccompanied chimps and baboons will be attached to. Gorillas and older baboons (16 years of age and older) can choose whether to be connected to the continuous system or transfer manually. However if, in the opinion of the Safety Instructor, the gorilla or baboon is not able to follow the transfer procedure safely, we reserve the right to transfer participants to the continuous system.

Monkey Trunks is a high risk activity; therefore, safety rules must be followed. To educate you concerning the nature and risks of the activity there will be a 10 minute safety briefing (20 minutes for Discovery course participants) on arrival which includes a video of the course demonstrating the nature of the activity, the skill level required, and the risks inherent in the activity. Discovery participants will then undertake a short ground school session. All participants must demonstrate they are able to follow the safety procedures.

You will be required to sign a disclaimer if you then choose to participate, as well as certify that you know of no physical limitation or illness that would limit your ability to participate. Our fully trained safety instructors will show you the first challenge, and help you complete it safely. After that you will be self supervised during your completion of the activity.

In the event that any participant fails to observe the safety rules or causes a hazard to other participants it will result in our asking the participant to leave the course. In that event your admission fee will not be refunded.
